2// Cotton buds: sounds odd but if you are in pinch just gently rub a cotton bud against your lips. It removes any dead skin from the surface, so that when you apply your Carmex it can get down into your lip skin and do it's magic!

3// Lip scrub: you can buy a lip scrub from Lush, or anywhere really. But i prefer to make my own, all you need is sugar/salt and some honey, mix them together and gently rub it over your lips, lick away the residue. There you have it; fresh smooth lips ready for kissing!

4// Lip butter: you can go down the nourishing route of simply applying a lip butter. (the above is Revlon's Candy Apple) This is easy and very low maintenance, and you can re-apply it easily without a mirror, it also keeps your lips nourished all evening.

5// Lipstick: if you are a lipstick person, a very sweet pink would be the best. I would keep away from dark or red lipstick as it will transfer onto your date and become a big ol' mess. Also it requires upkeep most of the evening and constant teeth checks! So i would suggest sticking to pinks and nudes that flatter your complexion, and keep the attention on your eyes!
